Concordia at Rebecca Residence will dedicate its new chapel on Palm Sunday, April 13 at 1:30 p.m. as the facility celebrates its 10th Anniversary as a member of the Concordia Lutheran Ministries family of locations. All are invited to attend the event from 1 - 3 p.m.
President and CEO Keith E. Frndak said, "It is fitting that we dedicate a chapel, a building that has been on the minds of management and the Board from day one, exactly 10 years since Rebecca Residence was acquired."
The 2,400 sq. ft. chapel will accommodate handicapped seating for up to 60 people in wheelchairs. The design and furnishings are simple to allow easier accessibility and invite diversity of spiritual activities such as Bible study, grief counseling, prayer services and individual meditation. An organ, comfortable chairs for residents and families and an enhanced audio system adorn the sanctuary.
One of its most interesting features is the altar. In an effort to preserve our history, rather than purchase a new altar, we combined the old with the new and re-purposed one that was in our oldest building, Oertel Care Center in Cabot. That altar was used for hundreds of worship services over the decades.
The architect for the building is R. W. Larson and construction engineer is Martik Bros.
Last fall, a $750,000 capital campaign called "Opening the Door of Faith" was introduced to cover the bulk of the cost of the chapel. Individuals, families, organizations, foundations and corporations are being asked to support the campaign.
Large gifts for a specified purpose are available and can be recognized with naming opportunities according to the wishes of the donor. Concordia's Development Office is available to discuss and assist you with your gifts by calling 724-352-1571, ext. 8363.
Concordia Lutheran Ministries, parent company for Rebecca Residence, acquired the location in April of 2004. Concordia at Rebecca Residence is licensed for 60 skilled nursing beds serving about 40 short-term rehab patients per day and 65 personal care beds and serves over 700 people per year.
