Exceptional Stories of Care: Cabot Short-Term Rehabilitation

January 7, 2014

We don't think there's any better confirmation of a job well done than a testimonial from someone who has been through a program at Concordia. Today, we have just that from one of our former Short-Term Rehabilitation patients who had a great experience at our Cabot location.

Our dedicated Short-Term Rehabilitation team is in place to motivate, support, and increase the overall functioning of each patient. Our objective is to meet the needs of those individuals with the goal of getting them back to life as quickly as possible. Here's one of those "happy customers." :)

Baxter S., of the Butler-Chicora area, experienced a fall at work a while back, fracturing eight bones on his right side from his cheek to his pelvis. He chose to come to Concordia because his youngest daughter is a visiting nurse and had been treated very well. Also, his mother-in-law came to Concordia a couple years ago after having gallbladder surgery, and had nothing but nice things to say about her care.

"I can't say enough about the great care I have received," Baxter said. "Everyone is terrific, the food is excellent and the facility is a great Christian one. There are preachers that stop in and chat with me often, which is very unique. They must treat their employees very well too because it shows in their attitude and care giving."

Baxter also praised the everyday care he receives in addition to the skilled nursing and the physical and occupational therapy programs. To anyone who needs a place to rehabilitate, Baxter would tell them, "definitely come to Concordia."

"I had rehab therapy before but it wasn't like this," Baxter said. "I wish I would have come here then too. Here, I have no complaints. I can't imagine anyone having anything to complain about, and if they do, it is probably the person."

Baxter and his wife, Joyce, have two daughters: Jessica and Megan. He enjoys riding his motorcycle, working on his old Jeeps, hunting and fishing.

"I just want to thank the people at Concordia for everything they have done for me."

All of Concordia's Short-Term Rehab facilities have spacious Physical and Occupational Therapy gyms with modern equipment available in conjunction to one-on-one, hands-on therapy treatment. The clinical staff and therapists work together with our physicians to develop a customized program for each individual.
