At the ceremony, Concordia at Sumner CEO Charlene Kish said the day marked a milestone in the history of the location, and Rev. Charles Lentner, better known on the Sumner campus as “Chaplain Charlie,” asked for a blessing on “this family of God.”
During his speech, Concordia Lutheran Ministries President and CEO Keith Frndak thanked God that Concordia became “a steward in charge of such an asset,” and welcomed potential residents to see firsthand what he called a ‘lifestyle experience.’
A congratulatory proclamation was presented by Copley Township Trustee Bruce Koellner. Then, on behalf of all the retirement residents at Sumner, President of the Retirement Living Resident Association Judy Lasher said they look forward to welcoming new residents next Spring. She and her husband Ed moved to our community almost two years ago. Concordia at Sumner Director of Marketing Rowena Wilkins closed with a few words and invited guests to Informational Sessions this week.
Then the group of speakers, along with several Board Members and future residents who have already committed to an apartment after construction wraps up, dug their gold shovels into the ground for the ceremonial groundbreaking.
