GSH 5K Another Special Day for Families and Supporters | Photos

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended or assisted with another successful Good Samaritan Hospice 5K Event on Saturday, October 10. A sunny morning made for a beautiful occasion to gather with our Good Samaritan Hospice families and friends to celebrate and remember those we love.

More than 120 people participated in the memorial walk/run, which was held by the North Park Swimming Pool. While we don’t have all the expenses calculated yet, we’re proud that our gross amount raised was more than $9,100! As always, net proceeds from the event will support Good Samaritan Hospice’s patient and family programs, community grief services, our annual Camp Erin and so much more.

Delany McCarthy, 15, of Mars, PA was the top overall finisher with a time of 22:08! Tim Van Tine, 46, of Cabot, (24:00) and Ron Schoentag, 60, of Saxonburg, (24:33) rounded out the top three overall finishers for the 5K run. Our fastest 5K walker was Jackie Cromeans, 60, of Pittsburgh, PA who was walking for Team Wez’s Walkers, who won the largest team support award!

Click here for a complete list of finishing times (only 5K runners and walkers were timed – not 1K walkers).

Special thanks goes out to our volunteers, whose hearts and hands make this event much more special and welcoming than the average 5K.

Lastly, we thank our generous sponsors for their support!
