The health and well-being of our patients, residents and team members is our number one priority. Despite many of the counties in which we operate beginning to re-open, per the Departments of Health, Concordia is still operating under a no visitation policy, except for patients/residents in end-of-life situations. However, those wishing to see their loved ones can schedule time with them at one of our safe visitation areas. Please call your loved one's facility for more information. My Concordia Career: Amber Kern’s Story

August 27, 2019

The Concordia Team is comprised of many talented and compassionate employees who have graciously served our mission in a variety of ways – and we are excited for you to meet these fantastic individuals. Let us introduce you to Amber Kern!

Amber Kern Blog ImageAmber began her Concordia career in April of this year as a Graduate Practical Nurse for Concordia at Cabot. Amber recently passed her state boards to earn her Licensed Practical Nurse credentials and currently works in Cabot’s Personal Care unit.

Amber describes Concordia as “compassionate” and told us a few reasons why she loves working for our organization.

“I have to describe Concordia as compassionate because that not only defines our organization but also describes our individual team members.  Our team serves selflessly and everyone puts the needs of our residents and patients before their own.”

Amber continued, “I work here because of the abundance of compassion. We have a very supportive and encouraging team who motivate one another. All members of our team are approachable and easy to talk to. Overall, Concordia has hired very compassionate and kind people and it’s great to be a part of an organization with genuinely nice individuals.”

While Amber is relatively new to the Concordia family, she has made some favorite memories in the past four months!

“Overall, my favorite memory is just how supportive our team is and how everyone has helped me along the way. I had support and help during the time I was preparing for my boards. Being a new nurse can be stressful but my team has been wonderful with their guidance. I have also enjoyed seeing how everyone comes together for our annual Summer Festival!”

Amber spends her time outside of Concordia with her parents, her fiancé and his two children. She loves doing anything outdoors and is an avid hunter!

When we asked Amber what motivates her to succeed, she had the following to say:

“I’m motivated to succeed by striving to grow as a nurse.”
