My Concordia Career: Jason Hartman’s Story

The Concordia Team is comprised of many talented and compassionate employees who have graciously served our mission in a variety of ways – and we are excited for you to meet these fantastic individuals. Let us introduce you to Jason Hartman!

Jason Hartman is the Warehouse Supervisor for Concordia Medical Equipment (CME). He joined the Concordia family in November of 2009 and recently celebrated his 10th anniversary with us!

“There isn’t a day that I have looked back in the past 10 years and thought that I made the wrong decision. My title as CME Warehouse Supervisor has not changed; however, my role now compared to when I was first hired has changed dramatically.”

He continued, “Transitioning from maintaining a small warehouse with two service technicians to a warehouse four times as big with four service technicians, two warehouse staff, along with being in charge of purchasing, vehicle maintenance, shipping and receiving, and dispatching orders to most of Western Pennsylvania and completing deliveries when needed has proved challenging but accomplishable.”

Jason describes Concordia as a “devoted” organization.

“I have never worked for a company that is truly devoted to helping others in need. Witnessing Concordia grow to what it has become over the years is truly an act of God and a blessing to be a part of.”

Jason told us a few of the many reasons why he chooses to work for Concordia.

“The positive work environment and being able to assist others in need is truly gratifying. This work environment is a direct reflection of how Concordia’s leadership has created a supportive culture. I feel like I can give my opinions and suggestions and be heard. I have worked with many leaders across our continuum and I have always been made to feel valued and equal with all of my colleagues. In addition to our outstanding leadership, I have the best co-workers with my CME team. They are like a second family to me. I come to work to help them help others in need.”

Jason gave us a doozy of a story when we asked him about his favorite Concordia memory!

“About two and a half years ago I decided to play a little prank on the CME staff. The only one who knew the truth and was in on it with me was our CEO Brad Milliron. We had a weekly meeting with all of the team and I broke some hard news to them. I told them that I had turned in my two-week notice and that I was offered a position with another company in a totally different field.”

He continued, “At first, everyone thought I was kidding until Brad stepped in and backed up my story. Tears of sadness followed Brad’s confirmation. My team kept asking me questions until I could no longer keep my story straight. That’s when I broke it to them and told them I was a Concordia lifer and, in fact, not leaving. They were not happy with me until I gave them my real announcement. I told them that my little girl was on the way. Tears of sadness turned to tears of joy. I apologized after I realized the damage that I had caused. To this day, every now and then, I still hear about it. Sorry, all!”

Jason spends his time outside of Concordia with his family and friends.

“The activities list for my 11-year-old son alone can be time consuming. Throw a 2-year-old daughter in the mix and now you have chaos! Shout out to my wife Nicole for keeping everything in order because I wouldn’t be able to do it without her!”

His favorite hobbies include poker, fishing, target practice, and going to camp. Plus, once winter arrives, it’s all about hockey!

Jason told us his main motivator to succeed is his family.

“I want my wife and kids to have the best life that I can provide for them.”
