My Concordia Career: Jessica Lauer’s Story

Jess Lauer

The Concordia Team is comprised of many talented and compassionate employees who have graciously served our mission in a variety of ways – and we are excited for you to meet these fantastic individuals!

Let us introduce you to Jessica Lauer, an Administrator-in-Training for Concordia at Villa St. Joseph in Baden, PA. Jessica began her career in 2005 as a Certified Nursing Assistant for our skilled units on the Concordia at Cabot campus and she has grown with us ever since!

In 2008, Jessica took a leave and joined the United States Army. She was on active duty for approximately two years and returned to Concordia at Cabot in 2010. She eventually moved into a Manager-in-Training role while finishing her bachelor’s degree in business administration. Prior to transitioning to her current role at Concordia at Villa St. Joseph, Jessica worked for three years in the Human Resources department at Concordia at Cabot.

Jessica describes working at Concordia as “a blessing” and actually came to our organization through an employee referral.

“I initially came to Concordia because my best friend, who I was working with at another facility, made the switch and raved about Concordia and how nice of an organization it was to work for.”

We’re so happy that Jessica made the switch and 13 years later, she feels the same way about Concordia that her friend did when she referred her:

“Concordia has allowed me the opportunity to grow my career and has given me the chance to pursue my dream job. In addition to fostering my career development, Concordia has also allowed me to maintain a proper work-life balance as a working mom while I was completing school. And best of all, the people I work with have truly become like family. I have made life-long friends while working at Concordia.”

Like other long-term employees who we have featured, Jessica stated that her most memorable day at Concordia was the Haven 1 fire in 2006. Thankfully, no one was injured in the fire and Haven 1 was rebuilt in 2008. Her sentiments about that day have been echoed by almost everyone who was working at our Concordia at Cabot campus during this part of our history:

“It was remarkable to see the entire Concordia community and our local community pull together to ensure all residents were moved to safety.”

We do not know how she finds the time to do all that she does, but when Jessica’s not at Concordia, you will more than likely find her with her family, running, playing piano or proudly serving our great country as an Army Reservist.

Jessica stated that she is motivated to succeed by “hoping to always make my family proud,” and we can’t imagine that she hasn’t because she has certainly made her Concordia Family very proud. We’re so thankful that she’s part of our team.
