My Concordia Career: Kelly Ellena’s Story

The Concordia Team is comprised of many talented and compassionate employees who have graciously served our mission in a variety of ways – and we are excited for you to meet these fantastic individuals. Let us introduce you to Kelly Ellena!

Kelly began her Concordia career in December of 2007 as a Life Enrichment Coordinator for Concordia of Fox Chapel. She is currently an Activities Coordinator for the location as well as their Director of Staff Development.

Kelly thinks of “family” when asked to describe Concordia, and said the family-minded environment is a reason she chooses to work for our organization:

“There are many words that come to mind when trying to sum up Concordia; however, if I had to pick one – it would be family, because I consider everyone at Concordia a part of my family,” Kelly said. “I choose to work for Concordia because of the great relationships I have made here. Everyone has become an extension of my family – my co-workers, our residents and our residents’ families. I feel at home here.”

She has many favorite memories of her Concordia career and said it was difficult to name just one, but her biggest joy comes from working with the residents and her greatest career moments have come from them.

“To see the smiles on the faces of our residents and their families when we hold events is wonderful,” Kelly said. “It’s a great feeling to see them enjoying themselves in the moment and also reminiscing on the good old days.”

Kelly spends her time outside of Concordia with her family and two dogs. She also enjoys shopping, cooking and baking.

When asked what motivates her to succeed, Kelly said it’s simple: “When I see that I have helped someone.”
