My Concordia Career: Nathan Wittebort’s Story

Nathan

The Concordia Team is comprised of many talented and compassionate employees who have graciously served our mission in a variety of ways – and we are excited for you to meet these fantastic individuals. Let us introduce you to Nathan Wittebort!

Nathan joined the Concordia Family in August 2013 as a Nurse Aide. Since that time, he was promoted to Mentor of our Nurse Aide team and had the following to say about his current role.

“Our potential hires shadow me while I work to help them get a glance of what it’s really like to be a Nurse Aide. It is my responsibility to train all Nurse Aides who come on board to be the best that they can be – and it truly takes a special person to be an Aide! A successful Nurse Aide needs to have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, great communication skills, patience and be respectful towards our residents and co-workers.”

Nathan describes the Concordia organization as “compassionate” and stated that our employees and residents all come together as a community to be kind and caring towards one another.

When we asked Nathan why he chooses to work for Concordia, he had the following to say.

“I choose to work with Concordia because I want the chance to make a difference in someone’s life. Ever since I was a child, I always loved helping others. Seeing others smile, laugh or feel good about themselves as a result of something I did for them has always been a great enjoyment for me. I also choose to work for Concordia because they foster career development and have given me the medical experience to continue my professional growth. I will be graduating from Butler County Community College as a Physical Therapy Assistant in 2021.”

Nathan has many favorite memories of Concordia, but the ones that stick out the most to him are the ones that involve our residents.

“Some of the best memories of my life have been with Concordia. I will never forget the time a resident said to me, ‘You always brighten the place up’. Hearing him say this hit me so deep in such a positive way that I was compelled to make his quote the background image of phone and laptop that has not been changed to this very day! Another permanent memory of mine was when a 104-year-old resident told me I was extraordinary. This made me feel so incredibly valued that this immensely wise lady saw this trait in me.”

Nathan enjoys spending his time outside of Concordia with his family and friends – “I cherish every moment spent with them.”

And when he’s not entertaining his family and friends, boy, does he stay busy! His hobbies include cooking, music, movies, reading, quad riding, kayaking, interior design, video gaming and painting. Plus, he plans to learn how to make stained glass windows this year!

Nathan said that he is motivated to succeed by “God in every possible way. He is my anchor that keeps me from drifting even when the waves seem to be a mile high at times.”
