The Concordia Team is comprised of many talented and compassionate employees who have graciously served our mission in a variety of ways – and we are excited for you to meet these fantastic individuals. Let us introduce you to Rachel Buckham!

Rachel joined the Concordia family in May of 2018 as a Registered Nurse for Concordia Visiting Nurses. She performs both skilled and palliative care visits for CVN in our Cabot service area. In addition to her nursing responsibilities, Rachel is a CPR Instructor and assists with classes for Concordia’s home health, private duty and hospice employees.

She describes Concordia as compassionate and told us how she found her way to our organization.

“I was actually working in a hospital and a few of my patients recommended working in home health, so I applied on www.concordiacareers.org and was hired. I have had family members who were cared for by Concordia nurses so I was familiar with the reputable name.”

Rachel cites Concordia’s extensive benefits package, location to her home and our flexibility with scheduling as a few of the many reasons she chooses to work here. She also appreciates Concordia’s many opportunities for career growth.

“I plan to become certified as a palliative care nurse and possibly move into management role at a later date. Since I started a little over two years ago, Concordia has helped developed my career by training me in palliative care and offering the opportunity to become a CPR Instructor.”

Rachel has been passionate about nursing and helping others since she was a child.

“My grandparents were sick when I was young and I spent a lot of time with them in their homes. I would see family members and nurses taking care of them at home, at doctor’s appointments and in the hospital. Witnessing excellent nursing made me want to be a nurse myself.”

She continued, “I love to care for my patients so I become their advocate to help them get the services and care that they need and deserve. My patients motivate me and I enjoy caring for them, they really appreciate all that we do for them. I love being there for my patients in their homes. When I worked in the hospital, I never realized the struggles some people encounter when they go home.”

In her free time, Rachel and her family enjoy taking many camping trips and training the family dog.

“We love to camp and try to go to as many places as we can from April to November. I am also currently working with our German Shepherd, Ranger, on nose work to possibly become a search and rescue dog!”

We’d love to hear your future story! Find your next career by visiting www.concordiacareers.org.
