My Concordia Career: Sue West’s Story

The Concordia Team is comprised of many talented and compassionate employees who have graciously served our mission in a variety of ways – and we are excited for you to meet these fantastic individuals. Let us introduce you to Sue West!

Sue joined the Concordia family in 2009 as a Medical Technician for Concordia at The Orchard. She earned her LPN credentials and transferred to Concordia at Cabot where she has experienced progression in her career by serving as a Licensed Practical Nurse, Unit Clerk and currently holds the role of Personal Care 2nd Shift Supervisor.

When asked to describe Concordia using just one word, Sue stated “accommodating.”

“Concordia has accommodated me in various ways and I’m thankful for their support. I started as a midnight Med Tech at Concordia at The Orchard while I went to Lenape Practical Nursing school part-time. Concordia worked with my school schedule and I was very appreciative for that.”

She continued, “Any time I have had a family emergency or have needed to have time off due to something out of my control, Concordia has made accommodations for me. The organization is very understanding of employee needs and they do an outstanding job of extending grace.”

Sue told us she enjoys many aspects of her career and absolutely loves working with Concordia’s amazing residents and fellow team members! She is also thankful that her mom convinced her to apply with us!

“My life circumstances changed in 2007 and I needed a job that would support my family. My mother convinced me to go to nursing school and told me upon graduation that I needed to work for Concordia because they were the best employer in our area. My mother passed of cancer two months prior to my graduation, but she believed in me and I followed her wishes! I would not want to be anywhere else at this time of my life!”

Sue spends her time outside of Concordia with her family and their three miniature Dachshunds. To relax, she enjoys playing CodyCross and Sudoku. Sue told us that her family and grandchildren are her greatest motivators and they help her succeed every day!
