National Nursing Home Week 2016 – A Letter from the President

KEF 2-16 2

If you don’t follow Concordia on Twitter or Facebook, a) why not?, and b) you may not realize that this week has doubled as National Nursing Home Week and Employee Appreciation Week! While we always take our responsibility to care for our patients/residents seriously, we also like to have some fun – especially this week. Each day, employees received a special treat (bagels, sandwiches, ice cream sundaes, etc) and got to dress down according to a different theme (Disney, patriotic, super hero, etc). We have TONS of pictures on our Facebook page that you need to check right now.

Today, to wrap up the special week, administration grills hot dogs and hamburgers for the rest of the staff, and we all enjoy a summer picnic-themed lunch! We also have a letter from Concordia President & CEO Keith Frndak to share with you all. While the letter addresses the staff specifically, we thought it would be a great way to recognize National Nursing Home Week here on the Concordia Blog.

So take a look, and feel free to leave a comment below. And of course, Happy National Nursing Home Week!

………………..

Dear friends,

In the recipe for success that Concordia has been following for as long as I’ve been here (has it really been 33 years?), there’s one ingredient that we can never get enough of: great employees. And by the grace of God, we haven’t had a shortage of them.

Serving our older population isn’t always an easy job. Just ask one of our CNAs, housekeepers, food service staff, maintenance workers, nurses or anyone else at Concordia. There are specific challenges that we face on a daily basis. But what sets our employees apart from the rest is their willingness to do the right things for our patients and residents ~ even if doing the right thing is hard. The patience, expertise, kindness and love I see our staff give to those in our care is more than outstanding… it’s inspiring.

Our mission is to serve our aging community with a continuum of high quality caregiving options, provided in a Christian environment, and to serve those with limited funds to the best of our ability. I’m proud to say that because of our amazing staff, from top to bottom, that mission is thriving.

During National Nursing Home/Employee Appreciation Week and every other day throughout the year, please know that your work and commitment to those you care for are deeply appreciated by me, the Board of Directors and, most importantly, the families of our patients and residents. Thank you for all you do and may God bless our efforts.

In His Service,

Keith E. Frndak
President & CEO
