National Senior Citizens Day Video: How Concordia Residents Have Affected Our Lives

August 14, 2018

National Senior Citizens Day was originally observed on August 14, as it was the day President Franklin Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act in 1935. But in 1988, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed an official observance day to honor and acknowledge the contributions that senior citizens have made to their communities and country throughout their lifetime. That observance day is now August 21.

But either way, on behalf of the entire Concordia family, Happy National Senior Citizens Day!

The seniors in our lives are people who we should be looked up to and admired on a daily basis. They have taught us so much of what we know and passed down so much to the generations that came after them. Today is a day for us to truly thank them for all they have done.

For National Senior Citizens Day this year, we sat down with a few of the outstanding staff members who care for our residents on a daily basis. In this video, we talked to caregivers from a handful of our locations, and asked them about how our residents have affected their own, personal lives, and why they are thankful for the residents here at Concordia. We hope you take five minutes to hear some of the awesome responses we received!
