One of the countless reasons so many people choose Concordia is because of the excellent activities offered to those in our care. During any given month, in one single service line at one single facility, there are approximately 160 activities!
However, two upcoming events at Concordia are unlike the rest. And trust us, you really don't want to miss them!
Concordia Oktoberfest, Zambelli Fireworks Scheduled for October 5
Concordia Lutheran Ministries will hold its annual Oktoberfest celebration featuring a spectacular Zambelli Fireworks display on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 4 8 p.m. at Haven I (112 Marwood Rd., Cabot).
For the children, there will be a balloon artist, games, crafts, hayrides, a bouncer castle and more. Children 12 and under will receive free food vouchers for the Quick Tent. Entertainment will again be provided by acclaimed musical group The Continental Dukes German Band.
Tours of Concordia Haven Apartments will be available as well as a bus to go through Saxony Farm. Concordia Visiting Nurses will host a Blood Pressure Clinic and Haven residents will have a rummage sale also. (Flu shots will NOT be available this year.)
In addition to the entertainment and tours, the Concordia food service staff will prepare a German-themed menu for everyone's enjoyment. A Quick Food Tent will be set up as well as the traditional beer tent.
Free parking and shuttle service will be available. Guests are encouraged to arrive well before the 7:45 Zambelli Fireworks display to park in the designated areas to reduce traffic and safety concerns.

Good Samaritan Hospice to Host Annual 5K Run/Walk
Good Samaritan Hospice (GSH), a mission of Concordia Lutheran Ministries, will host its 12th Annual Memorial 5K Run/Walk & 1 Mile Fun Walk on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the North Park Boat House, with all proceeds benefiting benevolent care, community education programs and patient/family support programs.
The day will start with registration at 7:30 a.m., a dedication service at 8:50 a.m. and the Run/Walk at 9:00 a.m. There will also be refreshments and door prizes. Registration fees are $20 until September 30; after that the cost is $25. Participants can register their leashed dogs for $5 each as well. Each participant will receive an event T-shirt while supplies last.
For every $50 raised by an individual or team, the participant will receive a ticket for the gift basket drawings. Sponsorship and volunteer opportunities are currently available.
