Over 1,500 people came to the Concordia at Cabot campus for the Oktoberfest. The traditional German menu was a hit, as usual, as was The Mikey Dee Polka Band, which kept everyone in the Oktoberfest spirit all evening. The childrens activities alone had a couple hundred kids decorating pumpkins, jumping in the bouncer castle, taking a hayride and playing games. And, of course, it was another outstanding fireworks display from our friends at Zambelli! Special thanks to our amazing volunteers, the member churches who showed up to sell delicious baked goods/homemade noodles, and of course our residents, staff and community for coming out to make the event a blast!
The GSH Memorial Walk ended up being a great afternoon, despite the early forecast of steady rain and thunderstorms. Over 180 people attended the event and walked in memory of a lost loved one. The walk also featured a dove release, games and activities for kids, employee recognition and more. For the first time, this event was held at Saxony Farm Estate in Saxonburg. The Estate was once a champion-breeding horse farm, and the walk was actually held on one of the former race tracks. All proceeds benefited Good Samaritan Hospice’s mission of care to those we love facing a life-limiting illness. Proceeds made from the event make a difference to the hospice patients and families we are fortunate to serve. Special thanks goes out to our volunteers, whose hearts and hands make this event much more special and welcoming. Lastly, we thank our generous sponsors for their support and help in keeping the event complimentary for all to attend.
