2019 Concordia Fishing Derby for Kids Hosts Over 800

Perfect weather, plenty of fish and tons of fun were all part of the 2019 Concordia Fishing Derby for Kids. Over 800 people – the most in the event’s five-year history – visited Lake Saxony to reel in bass, bluegill, catfish and sunfish. Also breaking records this year was the largest fish caught in the history of the event, an enormous 21-inch largemouth bass! (Read more for photos)

Concordia Volunteers Make a Difference Every Day | Slideshow

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, one out of every four people (nearly 63 million) in the United States volunteers with an organization each year. Although this number may seem like a lot, the Corporation for National and Community services has pointed out that this number has been in decline since 2012. This is bad news for the thousands of non-profit organizations across the country that rely on the selflessness and generosity of volunteers who help day-to-day. (Read More for photo slideshow)

Concordia Calendar Artist Profiles: Peg Vogel

When we think of famous painters, names like van Gogh, da Vinci, Monet, Rembrandt, Picasso and Warhol come to mind. However, since Concordia’s 2019 Calendar was distributed, the public has been introduced to our own artistic Hall of Fame with the resident artists whose paintings have been featured.

Titled “Brush Strokes,” each month depicts a different painting by several of our residents who live at one of our locations. And each month, we’ll introduce you to the artist, here. April’s resident artist (as well as October) is Peg Vogel, of Concordia at Sumner.
