Happily Ever After: Concordia of Monroeville Couple Celebrates 70th Wedding Anniversary

William Schonberger met his soul mate, Roslyn Greenfield, at a Jewish youth dance in 1948, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. According to the couple’s story, Bill was smitten. He went home and told his mother he had met the girl he was going to marry. After their courtship, they were married on July 3, 1949, at the Gemilas Chesed Synagogue in McKeesport.

Now at 91, the Schonberger’s reside at Concordia of Monroeville, where they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on July 3, in a traditional Jewish vow renewal ceremony under the chuppah surrounded by family and friends.

16th Annual Concordia Golf Classic Was a Hole-In-One

Concordia’s 16th Annual Golf Classic celebrated another record-breaking year in funds raised for Concordia’s mission of caring. A great group of golfers and guests came together at Treesdale Golf & Country Club on Monday, July 8 and had a perfect day for golfing, fellowship, food and fabulous gifts and prizes! This past Saturday, we invited residents, families and the local community to celebrate the completion of the project with a Grand Opening/Community Day event!

Concordia Calendar Artist Profiles: Nada Askew

When we think of famous painters, names like van Gogh, da Vinci, Monet, Rembrandt, Picasso and Warhol come to mind. However, since Concordia’s 2019 Calendar was distributed, the public has been introduced to our own artistic Hall of Fame with the resident artists whose paintings have been featured.

Titled “Brush Strokes,” each month depicts a different painting by several of our residents who live at one of our locations. And each month, we’ll introduce you to the artist, here. June's resident artist is Nada Askew, of Highpointe at Rebecca.

Camp Erin Pittsburgh 2019 Continues to Touch Lives

Summer is practically synonymous with “camp” for a lot of kids. Most summer camps give children the chance to explore, learn and play outdoors, exempt from the worries of the school year. That was certainly the case for the 72 campers (and 82 volunteers) at Camp Erin Pittsburgh, held June 7 – 9 at Camp Kon-O-Kwee Spencer, just 30 miles north of Pittsburgh. But at this particular camp, all the kids had one thing in common: each had lost a loved one during their young life.
