In 2018, Concordia Community Support Services (CCSS) started a Missions Committee that coordinated four “Servant Events” for our staff to be able to reach out into the community. The events included volunteering at The Lighthouse Foundation, a nonprofit based in Butler, PA; helping run a community day in Farrell, PA; and framing a transitional dorm-style house for girls who have aged out of foster care.

Concordia Calendar Artist Profiles: Carole Flagg

When we think of famous painters, names like van Gogh, da Vinci, Monet, Rembrandt, Picasso and Warhol come to mind. However, since Concordia’s 2019 Calendar was distributed, the public has been introduced to our own artistic Hall of Fame with the resident artists whose paintings have been featured.

Titled “Brush Strokes,” each month depicts a different painting by several of our residents who live at one of our locations. And each month, we’ll introduce you to the artist, here. January’s resident artist is Carole Flagg, of Concordia Village of Tampa.

What a Senior Caregiver Role Involves

The role of a senior caregiver is a special and important one, as it makes a difference in the lives of others each and every day. We know this first-hand at Concordia, as we have the opportunity to meet and talk with family caregivers on a regular basis. The role can be challenging, yet rewarding, and can include a wide range of tasks from doing laundry and buying groceries to taking your loved one to doctors' appointments and handling their finances.
