While we may be moving away from the landline phone, that doesn’t mean the idea of calling to catch up with a friend or check in on a loved one is any less important. And that’s exactly the premise of Concordia Tele-CareGivers.

Marysue Hitchens celebrated her 19th birthday on September 3, 1978 as well as what would turn out to be another important milestone – her first day of work at Concordia at Cabot. On this week of her 40th anniversary (week of 9/3), we honor Marysue, the Nursing Assistant turned Housekeeping Supervisor in Lund Care Center Skilled Nursing.

Retirement Living Couple Enjoying Highpointe Worry-Free Lifestyle

Did you know Concordia has multiple senior care locations that offer retirement living? At any given time, we are serving around 1,000 seniors in western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and Tampa, Florida in that one service line alone! We hear a lot of great things from our retirement community residents and their families about our services, and we wanted to take the opportunity to share one of their stories with you.

Tom and Joan Dougherty moved into Highpointe at Rebecca, Concordia’s newest retirement community, last November. After living in their home on nearby Cramlington Drive in Gibsonia for 41 years and wanting to get away from the potential hazards that came with it, the Doughertys knew it was time to make the transition to Highpointe.

Another Great Evening for 2018 Concordia Dog Show | PHOTOS

For the last 18 years, the Annual Concordia Dog Show has been blessed with pretty good weather. Hot and humid, some years, but always dry. The day of this year’s event looked a little different. Held the evening of August 16 in the Lund Care Center back yard, rain fell most of the morning and into the afternoon. After debating whether or not to cancel the show for the first time, luckily, we were able to get a tent that afternoon… just in time for the rain to stop and the sun to come out! National Senior Citizens Day Video: How Concordia Residents Have Affected Our Lives

National Senior Citizens Day was originally observed on August 14, as it was the day President Franklin Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act in 1935. But in 1988, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed an official observance day to honor and acknowledge the contributions that senior citizens have made to their communities and country throughout their lifetime. That observance day is now August 21.

But either way, on behalf of the entire Concordia family, Happy National Senior Citizens Day!
