There are many funds and specific ways your donations can be directed to further the Concordia mission. Three ways in particular are the general funds, charitable care funds and staff appreciation funds.
Gifts made to Concordia's general funds are "unrestricted" and directed toward the areas of greatest need. This could be anything, including maintaining a safe, attractive facility, purchasing additional medical equipment for resident/patient use and more.
Our charitable care funds are exclusively used to help offset the financial shortfalls between residents' resources and the cost of care. The Good Samaritan Endowment Fund is one of our charitable care programs.
Donations to our staff appreciation funds are used to supplement the variety of ways we thank our employees for a continuous job well done. Donors have found it to be a wonderful way to thank the staff for the special care they or their loved one received.
Angel Tear Ministries
Established in 2007, Angel Tear Ministries is a fund dedicated to supporting the underprivileged around the globe. Locally, Concordia has provided grants for mission projects in western PA, such as The Sonshine Kitchen, Unity Community After School Program, Deaf Ministry and Pittsburgh Area Lutheran Schools.
Internationally, Concordia has partnered with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) to serve God's people all over the world. This fund has helped provide food, shelter, basic medical needs and tuition for Kenyan children, the purchase of three medical mobile clinics in parts of southern Sudan and more. Donations to this fund ultimately help spread the love of God through humanitarian efforts around the world.
1001 Orphans and Servant Leaders of the Cross
Two offshoots of the Angel Tear Ministries program are 1001 Orphans and Servant Leaders of the Cross.
1001 Orphans is a partnership between Concordia Lutheran Ministries Foundation and Compassion International that connects over 1,400 orphans in Kenya and Ethiopia with life-giving benefits that include nutritious food, hygiene training, education, mentoring and the ability to hear about Jesus Christ and his salvation.
If you interested in sponsoring a child in the Compassion International program, Concordia will match your gift by sponsoring an additional child in need. A gift of $38 per month supplies a child with an education, basic medical needs, food, clothing and Christ-centered guidance.
Servant Leaders of the Cross provides opportunities for youth to fulfill mission work in conjunction with Angel Tear Ministries.
