Susan Beatty, Haven art class instructor, has been with Concordia for 26 years and said she has worked with nearly 100 students over the years. Her goal has been to teach as many people as possible the benefits of being an artist. Specifically, she cited enhanced problem solving skills as one of art’s many benefits.
“Being an artist opens one’s self up to seeing the world in a whole different way,” said Susan. “The world needs artists or I believe our society will falter.”
The artists featured in the show range from 88 years old to 92, with several of the residents having taken art classes with Susan for well over 10 years. Speaking fondly of her students, she added that they “are some of the most wonderful people you would ever want to meet.”
The resident/artists include Joan Bowen, Lund Care Center; Eleanor Hanna, Mary Simmons and Loena Zitzman, Haven III and Rev. Ken Hoener, Laird Kroh and Flo Parker, Haven II.
Artwork will be for sale. Please talk directly to the artist.
