Concordia at Cabot Personal Care Resident Turns 100

Jefferson Twp., PA – Concordia at Cabot Personal Care resident Christina Kislak Wahala celebrates her 100th birthday on January 3, 2018.

Born in a small coal mining town near Greensburg one of eight children, Christine Kislak Wahala married Joseph on October 1, 1938 at St. Louise RC Church near Homer City. The couple had two children - Christine Heinz of Butler and Ronald who lives in Woodbridge, VA. After 67 years of marriage her husband passed away on January 27, 2006. Chris counts five grandchildren – Heather, Michelle, Wendy, Melinda and John and 11 great grandchildren – Grace, Abby, Anna, Ava, Amelia, Ronald, Elizabeth, Kate, Daniel, Esther and Mary.

She always had a flower garden and loved to dance, especially the polka. Well-known for her apple pies, Chris was the perfect homemaker canning vegetables, making jelly, crocheting and sewing her own clothes.

She is looking forward to celebrating with dinner at a local restaurant and cake with her family and friends at her home at Concordia. She moved to Personal Care five years ago from Waterman, in Indiana County. Chris says her secret for reaching centenarian status was the fact that she ate vegetables and berries and walked a lot.
