Concordia at Cabot Resident Bicker Turns 100

Jefferson Twp., PA – Concordia at Cabot Personal Care resident Ida W. Bicker Smith will celebrate her 100th birthday on April 19, 2017.

Born on Cornplanter Road between Cabot and Winfield, she lived in Natrona Heights before moving to Concordia Haven 2 in 2008. She married Paul M. Smith on June 30, 1937 in Irwin. They had two daughters, Carole Jean Gildner who lives in Natrona Heights with husband Art and Marilynn K. Grant and husband Nick of Ortonville, Michigan. They have six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Paul passed away in 1998.

Ida worked in the billing and insurance department at Allegheny Valley Hospital’s business office. A member of First United Presbyterian Church in Tarentum, she enjoys knitting, crocheting, sewing, puzzles and reading. Her secret to living to 100 – “Have faith in the good Lord, she advises. “And enjoy life and love everyone because life goes fast.”

She plans to celebrate her milestone birthday dinner with family and friends from Haven II and a reception with family and friends in the Porch Lounge at Lund Care Center on the Concordia at Cabot campus.
