Concordia at the Orchard Resident Celebrates 100th Birthday

Butler, PA - Concordia at the Orchard resident Viola Ketterer, formerly of Pittsburgh, celebrated her 100th birthday recently with a party with family and friends.

The former Viola Roehm was born on June 13, 1911. She married Alfred Ketterer on Oct. 28, 1931 and has two daughters, Shirley of Calabash, NC and Dorothy of Belle Vernon. She also has seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She has lived at Concordia for nearly 10 years.

In addition to being a housewife, Viola worked as a secretary for Ford Motor Company in Pittsburgh before her retirement. A Lutheran for most of her life, she has always enjoyed crocheting, plastic canvas and reading. Her secret to living to be 100 years old: "No smoking and no drinking, but lots of laughing and just enjoying life."
