Concordia Haven Resident Turns 100

Cabot, Pa. - Concordia Haven resident, Dorothy Mitchell, celebrated her 100th birthday on June 3 at a party at Concordia and a family dinner.

Formerly Dorothy Bradley, she was born in Pittsburgh. She had previously lived in North Apollo with her late husband John, whom she married March 4, 1935. Dorothy has two children: a son named James and a daughter, Marilyn.

Dorothy was a dance teacher. Other hobbies include sewing, cards, playing the piano and having lunch with friends. She is also a member of St. James Catholic Church in Apollo, the Catholic Daughters of America and the St. James Confraternity.

A resident of Concordia for nine years, Dorothy said, "The best thing I did was move into Concordia. All my friends are passed on, but I have some very dear friends here, thank God."

When asked what her secret to living to 100 years old is, Dorothy replied, "Take life a day at a time. Say, this too will pass! We are all in the hands of God."
