According to its website, The River City Brass Band (RCB) is a modified British-style brass band based in Pittsburgh since 1981. The 28-piece ensemble tours extensively throughout the United States with more than 50 performances each year as part of community concert series across Western Pennsylvania. RCB has appeared on The Today Show and NPR’s Performance Today. RCB has produced 15 commercial recordings, the latest of which are River City Brass – 30 Years, Christmas Brasstacular, and Proud to Be American.
On Tuesday, August 16 at 7 p.m. the Harold Betters Quartet will be featured in the Haven I Dining Room located at Entrance 2A, 112 Marwood Rd. “Mr. Trombone,” as his website calls him, is a remarkable man who has enjoyed a career spanning over four decades. A native of Connellsville, he credits his success to his parents who owned and operated one of the area's hottest jazz spots. He performed at THE ENCORE in Shadyside for many years. He continues to be a favorite of sports fans by playing regularly at Steeler games. He has also been named "Man of the Year in Music" by the Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce. His formal musical training was received at Ithaca College and Brooklyn Conservatory of Music.
