Concordia Named for Excellence in Quality Care

Cabot, PA - Concordia Lutheran Ministries Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) was one of only a dozen  recognized by state officials with the first 2010 Excellence in Quality Care Awards for its high scores in meeting government standards.

The 136 bed (100% private rooms) unit received the highest possible rating under the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Five-Star Quality Rating System and had no deficiencies during its annual inspection by the state Health Department.

Secretary of Aging Michael Hall noted that the 12 cited, represent less than 2 percent of the 631 Pennsylvania facilities that participate in the Medical Assistance program.

Concordia receives a $40,000 grant to enhance patients' quality of life as part of the recognition from the Pennsylvania Department of Aging and the Office of Long-Term Living.

President and CEO Keith E. Frndak said he is grateful that others are identifying that we are a place where faithful caring is a tradition.  "Charlene Kline, Vice President, Skilled Nursing and Short Term Rehab and her staff are to be commended for such distinction," he notes.  "This is proof of what we know as our mission of providing excellence in a Christian environment," he notes.

Concordia's SNF unit provides a nursing staff, experienced in orthopedics, wound care, intravenous therapy, diabetes management, and other post-acute services. The clinical staff and therapists work together with physicians to develop a customized program for each individual.  Physical and Occupational Therapy gyms with state-of-the-art equipment including a therapy pool are available in conjunction to one-on-one, hands-on therapy treatment.  Our objective is to meet the needs of those individuals with the goal of getting them back to life as quickly as possible. To enhance recovery, Concordia's dietary staff provides delicious and nutritional meals and our activity staff provides therapeutic recreational activities. Cable TV service is provided in every room and most are equipped with free Wi-Fi Internet capabilities.  Skilled nursing and short-term rehab patients are encouraged to participate in their daily care and to be proactive in their recovery. Our in-house social services staff is available to meet with patients and their family in order to stay informed of their progress and discharge plans.
