Concordia Names Connelly Executive Director of Good Samaritan Hospice

Cabot, PA – Judy McKain Connelly of Butler has been named Executive Director of Concordia’s Good Samaritan Hospice.

Last September, Judy came to Concordia having served as the Director of VNA Hospice & Palliative Care since 1995. In addition, she was Director of Patient Care Services for two years at Butler’s VNA assuming responsibilities for home health operations. She holds a Masters Degree in Nursing Administration from the University of Pittsburgh and earned her BSN from Boston College.

Since 1979, she has held various positions in the health care field in Butler County including VA Medical Center and Butler Memorial Hospital where she began her nursing career.

“Judy is uniquely qualified for this position,” said Keith E. Frndak, President and CEO, Concordia Lutheran Ministries. “We are blessed to have someone with the rare combination of leadership and clinical expertise she can offer. I look forward to continued growth and the implementation of new patient programming,” he added.

A member of the Executive Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Hospice Network and the Community Health Clinic of Butler County, Judy is also a member of the Pittsburgh Pediatric Palliative Care Education Committee. She is certified by Dale Carnegie Management and Leadership, the Center for the Advancement of Palliative Care, the Disney Institute of Leadership/Business Management and holds a Senior Professional Human Resource certification. In 2013, she was selected the Butler County Employee of the Year. For the vast majority of her career, Judy has served Butler and the surrounding communities by educating residents to their hospice insurance health benefit, their choices regarding health care and collaborating with hospitals and other organizations to facilitate hospice care.

She has three children: Caitlyn, Maura and Michael.

Judy replaces Anzie Kelley, also of Butler, who retired from her position and currently is acting as a consultant having served Concordia for 15 years.
