Concordia of the South Hills Celebrates First Year

Mt. Lebanon , PA - Concordia of the South Hills (CSH) celebrated its first anniversary as part of Concordia Lutheran Ministries at a champagne and cake reception on Oct. 26. Over 100 residents, staff, board members and community members were on hand in the Living Room on the ground level of our retirement apartments at 1300 Bower Hill Road, Mt. Lebanon to toast this milestone - undoubtedly the first of many to come.

Since Concordia took ownership, a number of physical and operational changes have taken place, all for the benefit of those we serve. We're at near-capacity in assisted living and skilled and have filled 38 retirement apartments.

CSH also recognized the October birthdays of independent living residents, an event that is scheduled every month. Those who shared their birthdays with this special occasion included Mitzi Apelman, Louise Jochum, Alice Goldberg, Sidney Hoffman, Irene Mastri, Helen Haag, Isabel Klein, Olga Rosen and Herb Volz.

Representative Matthew H. Smith, 42nd Legislative District of Allegheny County, presented a citation to CEO Brian Hortert acknowledging the accomplishments of this first year. Rev. Jamison Hardy, CLM of Pittsburgh board member opened the festivities with prayer and CLM President and CEO Keith Frndak said, "Our mission is to serve people and God has blessed us with the opportunity to expand our geographic reach through this acquisition. We couldn't be happier with our newest location." Ina Silver, director of community life, served as the emcee.
