Concordia Sponsors a Health and Wellness Fair for Seniors

Cabot, PA – The public is invited to participate in the Concordia Haven Health and Wellness Fair on Thursday, September 24 in the Haven I Dining Room from 2 – 3:30 p.m.

Event Coordinator Chantelle Sweeney promises fun and information. Three organizations as well as Concordia services will be on hand to provide screenings, health food samples and valuable information.  

Silver Sneakers exercise classes at Concordia will demonstrate fitness techniques at the Fair.  Professionals from the Radiology Department at Allegheny Valley Hospital will provide collateral about the many services and procedures such as mammograms, MRIs, CT offered at its various sites as well as counsel attendees on the importance of screenings.  In addition, the Mobile Team/health navigator will explain how they can assist seniors.

Hearing screening will be conducted by West Penn Hearing & Audiology.  Monteverde’s will provide healthy refreshments.

Ask the Pharmacist through Concordia’s in-house pharmacy will be available.  Concordia outpatient therapists will be doing a timed 10-meter walk to evaluate balance. Concordia Visiting Nurses will provide blood pressure screenings and display Telehealth monitors.  Concordia Private Care will demonstrate medication dispensers and information about its services and pricing.  Concordia Adult Day Services will make available brain teasers to challenge our audience.  Good Samaritan Hospice staff will talk about opportunities to volunteer and supply information on end of life care and advance directives as well as forms in the event of a change in health care needs, chronic illness or education on how and when to make choices for future health care needs.

Chaplaincy Services will show a video explaining the role and education of a deaconess.  Faith resources such as devotional booklets will also be distributed.

Games, healthy refreshments, a basket auction and give-aways will be part of the event’s agenda.
