Concordia to Host Dining with Diabetes Series

Cabot, PA - Concordia Lutheran Ministries will host a Dining with Diabetes series offered by Penn State Cooperative Extension on Wednesdays starting April 20 from 1:30 - 4:00 p.m. in the Haven III ground floor game room (160 Marwood Rd.).

Dining with Diabetes is a series for adults with diabetes and their families. The cost of the program is $35 per person or $50 per family. Pre-registration is required. Recipes, handouts, and supplies worth over $120 will be given to each participant. The series of classes includes four sessions and a follow-up session after three months.

Participants will learn how to prepare meals that are healthy, simple and taste good. Recipes will be demonstrated and participants will have the opportunity to help prepare and taste each one. In addition, participants will learn up-to-date information on nutrition, meal planning and exercise as well as how to understand common, diabetes-related medical tests.

Diabetes is a very serious and costly disease, but research has shown that those who learn to manage their blood glucose (sugar) level, eat healthy and exercise regularly can lower their risk of complications and lead a healthier and more productive life.

You can download a registration brochure at http://beaver.extension.psu.edu and/or register directly at http://guest.cvent.com/d/8dqbkk. For more information on the series, call 724.774.3003. For information on Concordia, call 724.352.1571, ext 8518.
