The festival includes activities for kids, musical entertainment, delicious, picnic-themed food, an open house of our facilities and a traditional worship service at 4 p.m. The worship service will be led by Rev. Dr. Jamison Hardy, Bishop, English District. It will also include a choir of 50+ Concordia employees.
The entertainment includes the River City Brass band from 12:30 to 2 p.m., Combo-Nation from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., and The Chiodi Trio from 5 to 5:30 p.m. The River City Brass band is a highly respected 28 member band founded in 1981 and based in Pittsburgh. They are renowned in the Pittsburgh region as well as nationally and internationally. ComboNation is a father and son jazz duo. They have been performing at local churches, restaurants, parties and community events for several years. The Chiodi Trio is a family group that specializes in Americana and traditional jazz favorites.
The Kids Area is open for the entire event. Activities for children include a Fishing Derby (from 12:30 until 3 p.m.), a caricature artist, face painting and a bounce house, a rock climbing wall, a miniature golf putting green, crafts and games. In addition, there will be gift bags and frozen treats for all attendees.
Entrees will be sold in the Main Tent for $7, and include a choice of two sides, dessert and a beverage. The entrees include rotisserie style chicken (leg quarter or breast), BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, smoked brisket, hamburgers and hot dogs. For the two sides, guests may choose from fresh cubed watermelon, creamy mac’n cheese, pasta salad, slow cooked baked beans and sweet corn bread. Guests can satisfy their sweet tooth with homemade apple cobbler or brownie.
In addition, the festival will provide a Quick Tent where each food item on the menu only costs $2 (drinks are $1). Here, our guests can find ¼ lb hamburgers, grilled all beef hot dogs, chicken tenders (2) with dipping sauce and grilled chicken breast sandwiches. Kids 12 and under will receive vouchers for $3 in the Quick Tent.
