Concordia Summer Festival 2019

Concordia Lutheran Ministries will hold its 138th Annual Summer Festival on Sunday, July 28 from 12:30 – 5:30 p.m. (slight time change from past years) in the Lund Care Center back yard on the Cabot campus. Click here for Google Maps directions.

All are invited to relive the sounds of the’50s, ‘60s and ‘70s with The Pittsburgh Doo Wop Big Band, our featured entertainment from 1 – 3 p.m. on stage in the big tent. Under the direction of Richard Mansfield, former conductor of the American Soundtrack Series on PBS, the 19-piece orchestra includes vocalists Bill Reichert and Laura “Rose” Rozday.

The 4 p.m. worship service will be led by Rev. Dr. Dan Hahn Jr. pastor, Concordia Board Member, Regional Vice President of the Eastern District, Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and current pastor of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and Pre-School in Millvale. Dr. Hahn is also on the Redeemer Lutheran School Board of Directors, a Pastoral Counselor of the Pittsburgh Zone of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), current preacher at Zion, Lawrenceville and former Mission Director of Pittsburgh Area Lutheran Ministries (PALM).

A Fishing Derby for kids 12 and under will highlight children’s activities beginning at 12:30. We will also have a bounce castle, caricature artist, face painting, crafts and games to keep the kids busy all day in the gazebo on campus. And they are entitled to a free drink and food item in our Quick Tent, like burgers, hot dogs and chicken tenders.

An Open House will be held from 1 – 3 p.m. at Haven I to tour our retirement living community on the Cabot campus.

Our chef has created a delicious menu featuring popular summer picnic entrees – Rotisserie style chicken leg quarter or breast, BBQ pulled pork sandwich, smoked brisket, hamburger or hot dog. Dinners are $8 and include two sides, dessert and a beverage. The Quick Tent will offer burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders and grilled chicken breast sandwiches, $2 each.

The entire event is open to the public and admission is free. Contact Public Relations at 724-352-1571, ext. 8266. Click here to visit the Facebook Event listing and let your friends know you're going!
