Deaconess Accepts Call at Concordia

Cabot, PA - Concordia Lutheran Ministries Director of Chaplaincy Rev. Jack Hartman recently announced that Deaconess Jackie Duke accepted a call to join the Chaplaincy Staff.

Jackie will be commissioned and installed on Saturday, October 29 at Concordia's Haven I Chapel by Rev. Arthur Litke, First Vice President, Eastern District, LCMS.

She is a May 2011 graduate of Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne with a M.A. in Deaconess Studies. She began her duties at Concordia on October 3, which include regular visitations at several Concordia campuses, hospital visitation, counseling and any other duties assigned to enhance the spiritual care of residents. Her concentration will be on the Concordia Visiting Nurses Spiritual Care Program and Good Samaritan Hospice.

She earned a BFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design, and remained in her home state of Rhode Island until she entered the seminary. She was a pre-school teacher, eventually moving into an administrative position for the same non-profit child care agency. In addition, she owned a small summer business as a sidewalk portrait artist in Mystic, CT.

Deaconess Duke is married to Rev. Cullen Duke, who was installed at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Lawrenceville this past July. They are at home in Shaler Heights and enjoy camping, working in the yard and exploring Pittsburgh and the surrounding countryside.

President and CEO, Keith Frndak says, "We are particularly blessed to welcome this servant of our Lord as we continue to expand our mission."
