Details Set for Concordia's Annual Summer Festival
Cabot, PA - Concordia Lutheran Ministries will host its 131st Summer Festival on Sunday, July 29 from noon - 6 p.m. in the Lund Care Center back yard on the Cabot campus (134 Marwood Rd.).
The event, which is free and open to the public, attracted over 700 guests last year. Entertainment this year is based on a Doo-Wop theme, including a classic car cruise, DJ Charlie Apple, "Elvis" and Concordia's In-house Band. Kids can enter a fishing derby on site and participate in a number of other activities, games and crafts at the gazebo.
Golf carts and trolleys will be available to shuttle guests around the campus and there will be bus tours of Saxony Farm Estate from 1 - 3 p.m. There will also be an open house of Concordia's independent living Haven Apartments from 1 - 3 p.m.
Our chef has created a menu featuring Buddy Holly Burgers, Mickey Mouse Club Wraps, Chubby Checkers BBQ Beef Brisket and T-Bird Slow-Roasted Chicken, all priced at $6, which includes two sides, dessert and a beverage. The Quick Tent menu items - hot dog, fries, chicken tenders, soft pretzel and ice cream floats - are $1 each. Kids 12 and under are entitled to three free items at the Quick Tent.
The traditional 3 p.m. worship service will be led by Dr. Dean O. Wenthe, former president of Concordia Theological Seminary who served as leader for the past 15 years until his retirement last June. He is a longtime professor and expert of Old Testament Theology at the seminary.
"We are blessed to host one of the most experienced faculty members in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod educational system," Concordia Lutheran Ministries President and CEO Keith Frndak said. "His blend of scholarship and theological integrity are unmatched."
