First-Time Event for Concordia’s Good Samaritan Hospice

Jefferson Twp., PA - On Sunday, August 27, Good Samaritan Hospice (GSH), a mission of Concordia Lutheran Ministries will host a Memorial Butterfly Release at 2 p.m. at the Four Seasons Pavilion at Brady’s Run Park in Beaver Falls. This first-time event is open to all who wish to honor the memory of their loved ones. Children are welcome! Refreshments will be provided.

Registration is complimentary to attendees, but each butterfly to be released is a cost of $10.00. Walk-ins are welcome, but pre-registration to reserve a butterfly is necessary.  Schedule of events includes Registration, Welcome & Announcements, Opening Prayer, Choral and Musical Performances, Release of Butterflies and Children's Activities.

Judy Connelly, Executive Director created the idea of a butterfly release as she believes butterflies are symbolic of change and beauty in life. “There’s a sense of peace, too that people feel when they see and touch them,” she said.

Last year, GSH served 910 patients in the community and 1,068 in its inpatient locations: Beaver, Cabot and Wexford. The hospice team provided dignity and compassionate care to more than 1,500 patients as well as thousands of family members.
