Registration is complimentary to attendees, but each butterfly to be released is a cost of $10.00. Walk-ins are welcome, but pre-registration to reserve a butterfly is necessary. Schedule of events includes Registration, Welcome & Announcements, Opening Prayer, Choral and Musical Performances, Release of Butterflies and Children's Activities.
Judy Connelly, Executive Director created the idea of a butterfly release as she believes butterflies are symbolic of change and beauty in life. “There’s a sense of peace, too that people feel when they see and touch them,” she said.
Last year, GSH served 910 patients in the community and 1,068 in its inpatient locations: Beaver, Cabot and Wexford. The hospice team provided dignity and compassionate care to more than 1,500 patients as well as thousands of family members.
