Cabot, PA - Rev. Patrick Runk was installed as chaplain at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in a special service today in the Haven I Chapel. Rev. Herbert Schumm, circuit counselor, Northeast and pastor, St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Millvale presided over the Rite of Installation. Chaplain Jack Hartman served as preacher and liturgist. Lectors included Chaplain Paul Rist and Rev. Cullen Duke. Dr. Harold Schaible, Haven I resident was the pianist. A reception for Chaplain Runk was held in the Concordia Social Hall following the worship service.

Chaplain Runk will serve primarily at the organization's South Hills, Butler and Plum Borough locations.

He is responsible for pastoral care, leading worship and Bible studies, and spiritual counseling. Rev. Runk is married to Kimberly and has two children - Christina, age 18 and Alexander, age 16. He is a 2007 graduate of Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis with a MDiv.

"I felt moved to become a chaplain so that I would be able to spiritually help people during moments of crisis and grief, to listen and to offer support. I have found this to be a good and comfortable fit. It brings me great joy to work in this capacity," says Rev. Runk who completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Peters, MO.

Rev. Runk was born in Stoughton, MA. He earned a BS from Fitchburg State College in Massachusetts and was a teacher and computer programmer prior to entering the seminary. Ordained on June 24, 2007, Rev. Runk completed his vicarage at St., John in Warrenton, MO and served at Zion in Orange, CT and Concordia in Bourbon, MO.

At home in Saxonburg, Pastor and his family enjoy being outdoors, hiking, camping and fishing and he enjoys working on an old car.
