In order to give its residents and patients more access to the many benefits of nature, Concordia at Sumner is developing the specially-designed Garden of Prayer with restorative outdoor spaces.
The new garden, soon to be installed around Concordia’s Louise Sumner Pavilion, will be a multi-sensory experience for all who choose to explore it. Different varieties of trees and flowers will add gorgeous pops of color and sweet fragrances while birdsongs and two unique water features will create a soothing backdrop of sound, and the entire garden will offer many different textures to interact with. Thoughtful seating configurations and shaded areas throughout the garden will be perfect for patients, residents, families and staff to use in groups for conversation, meditation and visiting. The Garden of Prayer can also be used by individuals to practice coping skills such as prayer, walking, journaling and breathing exercises.
