Q. What is the connection to the Lutheran Church and do I have to be Lutheran to be admitted to Concordia?
A. Concordia is a private not-for-profit organization with no legal obligations to the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. The Board of Directors is representative of supporting churches, which dates back to our founding in the 1880s. You do not have to be Lutheran to be admitted. In fact, our population consists of a variety of religious denominations.
Q. What are the costs associated with entrance fees and monthly fees?
A. Check out some other senior care websites and you'll notice that most don't list their pricing. We believe that Concordia Retirement Living is the best value in the region, and invite you to check our rates right now. Visit the Location page you're interested in and click on Facility Rates for pricing details, and please feel free to ask the admissions coordinator of the location you are researching. The prices vary depending on location, number of bedrooms, price plan and more.
Q. Is covered parking available?
A. All Concordia Retirement Living locations have covered parking available. Certain locations charge an additional fee, so please feel free to ask the admissions coordinator of the location you are researching.
Q. Can Concordia care for me if my health requires a higher level of care?
A. Concordia Retirement Living residents have priority admission to our multiple personal care, short-term rehabilitation, memory care and long-term nursing care facilities, and we are here to help make the transition as easy as possible. Only when these services are provided is the resident required to pay the daily rate for the services received. The fees for higher levels of care vary by location.
Q. Is there an additional fee for two residents sharing an apartment?
A. Yes, there is a second occupant fee associated with residents sharing an apartment. Please feel free to ask the admissions director of the location you are researching for specifics.
Q. Are home care services available to Concordia Retirement Living residents?
A. Yes, through Concordia Home and Community Services, both private duty and Medicare-approved medical services are available. The services include skilled nursing care, physical, occupational and speech therapy, health aides, attendants, housekeeping services and more. Q. How do I start the admission process into a Concordia Retirement Living apartment or villa?
A. You should contact the admissions coordinator, schedule a tour of the location and receive an application. When the application is completed and approved, a deposit is required to be put on the priority waiting list. If you're unsure about anything, ask us! We're here to HELP you, not to sell you.
Q. What is the minimum age requirement for admission?
A. The minimum age is 68 years old, but applicants under 68 can inquire about special considerations. Exceptions may also be made for couples when at least one applicant is over 68.
Q. Are there transportation services available?
A. Yes, Concordia provides free transportation to local stores on a scheduled basis. Limited medical and personal transportation trips are included annually, with the number of trips depending on which Concordia Retirement Living community you call home. Additional trips are available at a cost. Periodic trips to special activities, special shopping trips, etc., are available at a minimal cost.
Q. What is included in the monthly service fee?
A. Utility charges such as electric, natural gas/heating expenses, water and sewage, garbage, basic extended cable, wireless internet access, personal transportation (limited), scheduled transportation (limited), concierge services if applicable, property taxes, activity programming, use of common spaces, limited valet service if applicable, snow removal and landscaping, regular maintenance, 24 hour electronic surveillance and emergency response system.
Q. May I have overnight guests?
A. Yes, guests are welcome to stay in the resident's apartment/villa at no additional cost. The lengths of stays are limited at the discretion of the administration of the retirement community. Residents in our retirement living apartments are welcome to have overnight visitors in our guest rooms at an additional charge.
Q. Are pets permitted?
A. Each Concordia Retirement Living community has slightly different policies regarding pets, but currently, each one allows at least a dog or cat, with certain restrictions. Please ask the admissions coordinator of the location you are researching for specifics.
