Concordia Hospice of Washington

At the center of Concordia Hospice of Washington care is compassion. Whether in their own homes or in our Donnell House Inpatient Hospice unit, our patients are treated as family.

In-Home Hospice

Hospice care is "comfort care" when a cure is no longer probable. It provides comfort through pain control and symptom management while offering emotional, social and spiritual support for the patient and family, individually and as a unit. When it comes to hospice care in Washington County, we don't believe you'll find better, more compassionate caregivers than you'll get with Concordia Hospice of Washington. For most families, when the option of a curative treatment is no longer beneficial, the following weeks or months can be overwhelming for many reasons. With Concordia Hospice of Washington, you and your loved ones don't have to face it alone.

Locations we Serve

While we have the Donnell House Inpatient Hospice Care unit, the vast majority of hospice patients are cared for in their home setting. We've served thousands of people in southwestern Pennsylvania in their very own homes, and we continue to expand our In-Home Hospice service area. If you don’t see your area covered, please call us at 724-250-4500 to see if we are currently serving your neighborhood.

History

The roots of our organization can be traced back to Rev. Dr. J. E. Victor Carlson, who helped create Hospice Care, Inc. in Greene County in the late 1970s to serve families dealing with end-of-life illnesses. In 1996, the program was combined with The Washington Hospital, opening opportunities for inpatient care and other new services. On July 1, 2016, Concordia Community Support Services and Washington Health System (previously The Washington Hospital) partnered to form the organization we are today.
